I use a bread maker to mix the dough. Very unsuccessful in the past doing it by hand. I use wholemeal flour and sometimes throw a bit of red pesto in. It does be lovely.

sounds good.

so, pizza party? and have chocolate pizzas for desert with bananas on them? could do loads of dips for the crusts too. would need a gaff with a big oven and a bread maker buh. or do you have to leave the dough expand for hours?...

can i just change the subject here for a wee second - i've arranged for the lifesize cutouts of myself and moose to be couriered over at the earliest possible convenience.
you can sit them at the table with you. moose's one is of him looking a little vacant while rlling a spliff.
the one of me depicts me hunched over my third helping, not stopping for air.

i do one with crunchy peanut butter, soy sauce, cayenne pepper and garlic which is great. another one with cream cheese, spinach and sweet chilly sauce, sun dried tomato humus and a few others

and i'll make the truffles i was supposed to make for the thumped xmas party

Well, that would be my place out. Oven isn't huge and no bread maker - and what about those of us with wheat allergies?

i can make some deadly dips.

Dips are great.

Fingerfood and cocktail parties are a deadly buzz. Except you never stop eating because there's too much to try and love.

i never stop eating just cuz.
dont matter if its finger food or a full blown christmas dinner.

im absolutely starving right now.

oh sorry squiggle. anyone got a plan b? would be up for maintaining the dips idea though.

No worries. The dips idea is great. We could always do a buffet type thing with dips. With veggies, breadsticks or something, mini pizzas, stuff like that?

Can you make wheat free pizzas? Spelt dough pizza perhaps?

Yes, that would be another alternative - although I find spelt flour seems heavier or something - it doesn't seem to rise as well as wheat flour.

fingerfood buffet with dips sounds amazing. not too sure about the cocktails though buzzo. might stick with the beer to avoid maximum pukage.

hey squigs, how allergic are you to wheat? 'cos i'd love to make tofu dumplings for this. you can get wheat free soy sauce but i'm not too sure about the dumpling skins.

I can make the pizzas up before I come over and then just throw them in the oven one or two at a time. Will give the auld wheat free pizza a lash as well.

If anyone hates the following let me know:

Olives
Onions
Peppers
Mushrooms.
Pesto

I like all of the above.

Can you eat this?

Odlums Wheat Free Tomato & Herbs Quick Bread.

I have a recipe to make a pizza base with that.

I'm going to try another recipe too in the meantime and see how it works out

Is there anywhere apecialising in wheat free stuff?

I need these things:

gluten-free dry yeast
brown rice flour or bean flour
tapioca flour
xanthan gum

Can you eat gluten or is it just specifically wheat?

Small amounts seem to be ok but if I eat a sandwich or something I suffer for the rest of the day.

I think we should definitely go for a finger food buffet style thing. It means that we can make sure that there is something everyone can eat too. I might make up vietnamese spring rolls (served cold and in rice wrappers) - they're yummy with sweet chilli dip.

I probably have that night off aswell. What side of the city do you live on Sarah?
(I don't do dairy)

Excellent that would be great! I'm in Dublin 8.

That sounds like it would be delicious. Specifically wheat. Haven't really investigated it much further than that.

So - looks like Saturday 3rd Feb, my gaff.

"Fingerfood buffet extravaganza!"

So far:
Dunchee
Diddles
HMD
Buzzo (hopefully)
Jillface ?

Anyone else? Anyone non-vegetarian for example so that I have an excuse to make some non-veggie stuff :D
