I'd recommend the early stuff. Start with Bandwagonesque. Let us know what you think and if you're still with us by then I can give you more commendations.
Grand Prix is the commercial hit but it's a bit bland really. Though I still love it.
As @rettucs said, Bandwagonesque is a good start. The run of albums that they have reissued just last week are all great as well - in particular, Grand Prix is superb, Songs from Northern Britain is equally good.
Thanks lads, listening to Bandwagonesque now. For some reason, I had them written off as being really twee like Belle and Sebastian but two minutes in and I'm liking this. The only 1 I've listened to is Bandwagonesque. I think it's great. Not sure why I never checked any of the others out.
They were fairly rockin' in the early days. Thanks lads, listening to Bandwagonesque now. For some reason, I had them written off as being really twee like Belle and Sebastian but two minutes in and I'm liking this.
Not to derail the thread but I was sure I'd read that Janick Gers was leaving Iron Maiden after the current(just ended) tour. I even looked it up this morning to check. Turned out I just dreamed it.
Devastating. You have my sympathies. I'm listening to it now, out of solidarity. As Dip of these parts said to me about 2 years ago "You still think 1990 is ten years ago" ...........I still think Seventh Son.. is anew album
This prompted me to listen to their new album, it's really good!i'm still smarting over eric claridge's clandestine departure from the sea and cake.
