I'm of the opinion that most people that are questioning the legality of his killing are generally against whatever the US do in foreign policy, which is fine. I'm just taking this as a stand-alone special case.

guh. maybe. but since this is an unverifiable possibility it's no stronger an argument than if I argued that killing him would only lead to killings of westerners in revenge attacks, which i'm not going to argue.Arresting him would have meant a rake of new kidnappings of westerners to bargain for his release.

I just get the impression that the real reason they didn't want to imprison and capture him is that it may have lead to a Saddam-style trial fuck-up all over again.I'm against covert executions too, but I genuinely believe that this is a special case.
