i dunno dave, i've never done it but it seems really easy.
i don't know what all this moaning is about. it can't be
much more different than staying up a bit late watching
telly or something. think you should definiltely do it.

that seems to be the same for a lot of people - going straight to bed when they get home. As I said above - why?

I work eight hours a day [9.00am to 5.00pm] and usually stay up until midnight or later.

My sis did it for about a year and even tho you get those days off, they are usually mid-week when no one else is around and your wrecked tired to you dont want to do anything anyway.
It really messes with your body clock.

did a job interview today, went well, job seems to be what i want to do etc etc but it will involve shift work, some being night shifts, 3 nights on 4 days off kinda thing. ive never done night shifts...do they make you go mental??

If you're naturally a night person working at night can be great, but only if it's all nights, not a mixture of nights and days. I had one job where you did a week of day shifts, then a week of nights etc and it was torturous. You'd just get used to one body clock and then you'd have to change again.

But I had another job where I worked 4pm to midnight and that suited my natural body clock really well. I did end up mostly socialising with my workmates though.

I work nights, just nights tho not shift work, and it's ok.
I've been doing it for over a year and surviving fine. My body clock seems to just sort itself out when my days off happen.
(Sometimes I dont feel fully with it at any time of the day or night though..)
I'd say it's an individual thing and you wont know til you try it, could totally suit you or not at all.

Anyway, I'm doing this 4 nights on, 4 nights off rota now and it's way better than only having 3 off or working 5 in a row. It'll totally depend on your rota.
Shifts could be hard coz you have to change from nights to days and still function.

As far as seeing people goes, I sleep the hours other people work so for ages it was totally grand.
However... after a year and a bit, working from 10pm is starting to get to me and working weekends too...

Been working nights for few years now- its grand, but it's all the time- going from day shifts to night shifts would be a killer. only sorta drawback is midweek gig's- have to leave early and always miss one or two bands but thats it. on the plus side- not dealing with the public

thanks all, the decision has been made for me... i didnt get the job, better off i reckon but still woulda been nice to be offered it and then turn it down.
got the old "...thought you were a great candidate but we didnt think you were right for this particular role..."
i wonder did i make a horrified face mid interview when the subject of shift work arose..or maybe they just thought i was a dickhead..ah well..back to the public sector for me
