It's been a very long time since I've seen a Liverpool team play like they expected to win every game. They are steamrolling teams right now and like you said it's a damn shame that dropped points against fucking Stoke fucking City fucking will let this amount to nothing. For the first time in my non-teenage adult life I can say with complete certainty that Liverpool are the best team in the league. Bring on next season right now.

Great result at Upton Park, another fucking 3 goals, a clean sheet for Reina putting him joint top again in that golden gloves league that he's won every year since he joined. And top of the fucking league in May.

Sad to think all the progress this season will likely come to nothing, but the football they have been playing since that defeat to Boro is nothing short of title-winning form, and that's in an actual title race, not just winning a bunch of meaningless games. It's a long time since a Liverpool team has played such great and remorseless football.

Anyway, delighted that we're forcing United to go and win it. They have 3 games in 6 days to close it out. Wigan will bend over and take it right up the shitter, but come on the fuck City and Arsha-nal. Show a bit of fucking backbone...

There's no way he'd sell Alonso. He's absolutely indispensable to how the team plays now. I'd be slightly more worried about Mascherano leaving. That sudden statement he made about not knowing if was staying or going a few weeks ago was very strange. He, of all players, always seems completely committed to the cause, but apparently his wife is 'unsettled'.

Definitely would have sold him last year if Juve had stumped up the cash, but that was after two underperforming years. This year, he's been arguably Liverpool's best player. I reckon the press are just going on the logic that since we would have sold him last year, that's still an option now. Barry may well come in, but I think that would be to complement the midfield rather than replace Xabi.

exactly. rafa seems to be thinking about buidling a strong squad to keep playing in the same sort of system that liverpool, united and chelski have developed over the last 2 years.

bring in barry and he can either play deep in the centre instead of alonso/mascherano, or play wide left in a defensive formation with masch-alonso-kuyt and gerrard/benny - torres up front.

same with bringin in david silva, in more attacking games against weaker teams he'd offer something more in an inter-changable front 3; riera, silva, torres, benny, kuyt, gerrard...

there are other ways to make cash. voronin will pull a few mill after the season he's had in germany. dossena could get at least half his value back in italy. and don't forget liverpool also have an unreasonably huge reserve squad that can be cut back to save millions on wages by sending players out on loan or selling off the no-hopers. what happened to that lad plessis? if we get barry we won't need him and lucas. then there's nemeth and the rest of the cup winning youth team. all good business for the championship or newly promoted teams.

we don't need to buy large to the extent that we lose the core that's come together over the last 4 years. i doubt even rafa would think that adds up to good business. but i am ready to be surprised.

barry can play at teh back too, left back or even centre back if needs must. he'd be a lot less useless than lucas, and lucas has has 25 league games this year. but crucially barry will be about 12 mil less than villa were asking for last year.
