Major Pleasures (3 Viewers)

Did the eulogy at my mother's funeral on Friday. Not a pleasure to have to do it, but I nailed it in front of a big crowd. Got the tone right, laughs where there should have been laughs. She'd have enjoyed it. RIP ma.
That's a great feeling to get at a difficult time.

And it's a tough mix to nail.

Sounds like you did her proud, man.

Yeah. It's hard.
I got about a two minutes into it, and looked up and saw one of my mother's friends looking up at me. For some reason at that moment it properly clicked that she'd died, I was almost indifferent up until that point, but seeing her friend made me understand she was gone. That was it for me anyway, end of ability to talk.

Fair play for getting through it, well done.

Thanks. Never did any public speaking before but wasn't nervous. Stayed up til 3am the night before writing and, crucially, reading it aloud. Printed it in 18pt font and mostly just read it. Only wobble was when I looked at my sister red eyed in the front pew.

not sure where to post this but it will go here because of the last few posts.
A friend of mine in his 70s has won several thousand on a sports club weekly lotto but it could hardly be more worthless. he's been in hospital for months and not going to recover.

You might just be good a public speaking. I suspect it's a thing you either have, or don't.

Hooring through the promotion stakes - just nailed another one

May, 2019 - SUSI - CO Grade 3 (Temp)
July, 2019 - Revenue - CO
November, 2019 - Gards - CO
July, 2021 - Housing Agency - Grade 4
July, 2022 - Housing Agency - Grade 5
June, 2023, Housing Agency - Grade 6
I have zero idea how any of this works, but it's impressive to me

Turns out, all you gotta do is show up, work hard and prove yourself

Who knew?

I'm chuffed beyond words for the guy. My Dad would have been over the fucking moon - half of Dublin would have found out about it.

I did the same for my father last year, it's a hard thing to do but getting laughs at the right places feels wonderful. I'm a very quiet person with a soft voice but it came easier than I thought because I was speaking from the heart. Granted, I teared up a bit and my voice was shaky at times but I feel people understand how hard it is, which helps when getting up there. Fairplay to you for doing it and saying something that you know she'd enjoy. ❤️

A year after diagnosis I was told today that my MS hasn't progressed and is stable.
Can I ask you, do the specialists say that pills or avoiding stress or doing exercise or diet or some combo of both can help this?
Or does MS have a mind of its own so to speak?
