My work building has four floors. The communal kitchen is on the third floor.
Someone who works on the ground floor is responsible for purchasing the milk every morning.

The milk is left at the foot of the stairs at 9.00am each day - in the expectation that someone else will bring it up to the kitchen on their way up.

Sometimes it's there for up to an hour before going in the fridge.

As cereal with warm milk is extremely unappealing and because such herd-mentality laziness drives me insane I informed the manager of the downstairs section that such a practice was not acceptable.
Either 'do the job right or not at all' was the jist of my tirade.

While not expressed in so many words, I was left with the distinct impression that I was regarded as being a total prick by raising this issue.

?

If you see it on your way up take it with you? whats the problem?

If I see it, I'll bring it up.
But that's not the point.
'Getting the milk' should entail the following: go to shop, buy milk, put milk in fridge.
Not a half-assed version of above.

a mail went around here soon after we moved into this building, warning us about theft, as a laptop and 25 litres of milk had been reported stolen.

mate of mine used to have a flat above a corner shop in finglas. after all nighters (of which there were many) we use to steal the milk that had been left on the pavement for the shop.
crazy, eh?

i had one of these from the the boulangerie this morning:
