I think there's a bit of disagreement here. @JohnnyRaz reckons you get called by your surname once you're the Taoiseach, @Unicron reckons you get called by your first name. Is it some sort of social circle thing? I'd normally say "Leo" for Leo Varadkar, and "Micheál Martin" for the other fella, maybe cos Micheál is a fairly common name. Mary Lou is always just Mary Lou

referring to him by his full name every time sounds mental and fuck referring to Varadkar by his first name. I hate it. It infers informality and palsy-Walsy shite.

not suggesting first name 'buddies' is the way to go. just think there's a bit of a dickish tone to it maybe. But it's all subjective. more than likely seeing something that's not there at all. it is only bloody twitter after all.

Varadkar is a total chancer. he only came out as an abortion advocate when he was absolutely sure back flipping would benefit his career.
is it still the case that same sex couples can't adopt ? I know single people now can but I doubt any individual has been given custody of a child in Ireland.

there is a huge amount of hypocrisy around these issues e.g. buying a surrogate baby off a Ukrainian woman or that a sperm donor can father 200 children.

Legislation was passed allowing that about a month before the equality ref AFAIK
