Leo Varadkar (3 Viewers)

not a fan of Leo Varadkar at all.
However, I hate how Paul Murphy always refers to him as 'Varadkar' on twitter.
Does he think he's a hard man or some nonsense.
In short, I hate all politicians really I suppose.

What do you want him to do?
referring to him by his full name every time sounds mental and fuck referring to Varadkar by his first name. I hate it. It infers informality and palsy-Walsy shite.

I think once you get to a particular level politically people stop using your first name - Adams, Ahern, Haughey etc etc.
When I was a kid in the 80s everyone said "Charlie" for Charles Haughey and "Garrett" for Garrett Fitzgerald. Dick Spring, being less important, was called by both his names. Pretty sure most people called Bertie Aherne "Bertie" too

(I always think "Obama" is Barack Obama's first name - saw Michelle Obama once on some tv thing, and her referring to him as "Barack" sounded weird)

with the exception of the times most media do it as well.

exactly.

I'd think it was rude if he wasnt the head of the country essentially. That and he is a massive wanker

Why? We always do that, "Boris" is an outlier for the Brits.
And in Ireland it is a, everyone is equal in a Republic thing. A healthy lack of too much respect for our "betters", because they aren't.

In the UK it definitely feels different.
