Jaysus cycling! (1 Viewer)

i just cycle dhome but some cunt decided even though i did have right of way, sure he'd just make a turn in front of me anyway. i was going along at a nice pace, my lane was clear, and this fucking dick from teh other lane swerved right in front of me to make a turn. i almost slammed in to the side of his car. honest to fuck, i want to punch him in the face.

happened me today on leeson street, riding in the cycle lane alongside traffic and mr mazda 323 thought he'd like to see what a tall person on a bike looks like bundling over the handlebars so he drove into me but sure it was all a bit of a laugh because "he's a cyclist too"

i'm so sick of this sort of lame excuse, my bike and shoulder are once again damaged (not too badly thank flip, ive already done the ride in the ambulance and don't want to be doing it again)

i did manage to take his wing mirror clean off while floating through the air...hooray!

Pretty common I think. I dont like cable disk brakes actually, too much stretch in the cable, you get a better feel off hydraulics.

and, yeah, of course, the calipers should be rock solidly mounted to the forks.

Haven't seen them here.
I'm going in for replacement discs this week so I might ask.

Yay, isn't this great weather for cycling? Dry, cold and sunny. I love it!
It is indeed a lovely, pity i got into a row with a motorist this morning. I'm going to take a make a more measured approached from now on.

Tap tap..... good morrow my good chap, would you mind awfully not me running into the kerb next time you're under taking traffic in the bus lane?

You will?

Delightful.

I wear a black ski mask.
It gets the raised-hand mea culpa every time.

I'm looking forward to going home alright.

I've never cycled in such heavy fog before, should have put my lights on. I figured people would see me, but was a huge difference in how motorists behaved around me. A learning experience.

Weather looks decent for the weekend, a little cold:

'Commuting Solutions' in Rathmines.

The soundest heads ever. They helped me out of an emergency mechanical jam this morning, and a more pleasant bunch I've never encountered.

Give them your business. They'll certainly be getting more of mine.

big .|..| for Commuting Solutions

i agree. quick, reasonably priced, and reliable repairs too. i needed to change the headset on my mountain bike a wee while ago and they were a fraction of the price of cyclogical for the same headset. had it done the next day too as opposed to the "maybe next week" i got of the other lot.

been going there for a few years and i usually get a discount if i'm buying a few things in one go. .|..|.|..|

that was my first time in there. I cycle by the place twice a day but have never really had cause to pop in (cos they're not local to where I work or where I live). But they were the friendliest lot. My pedal crank came off, and would have kept coming off (as the medal was bent where it sits onto the axle). They spotted that (I never would have - it was very subtle) and fixed it on the spot, even though it meant them dropping what they were doing at the time (a stock take).

Its so nice to go to a place thats appreciative of your business. Its a shame everywhere isn't like that.

I was chatting to the lads in there. They say they specialise in Giant, Trek and Kelly bikes. They aim mostly at the commuter market and most of their business is passing trade (such as what happened to me there today). But they have good shit in stock too. Their clothing range is decent and the back will is full of parts, and a good range of them at that (mostly BBB, which are pretty decent).

I know where I'll be buying my next hybrid.

There is hope for the world.

Do you know if they do trade ins?

I was standing on the pedestrian area by the side of Stephen's Green Shopping Centre on Wednesday evening at 6 when it is really busy with people walking all over the place. Some guy came flying along on a bike through that area and people were literally jumping out of his way. He screamed at some lad in front of him "Get the fuck out of my way" and the lad took a step to the side and then body-checked him to knock him over. Cyclist went flying.
That is all.

my new approach is to smile. It drives them nuts.

Yesterday I was given out to 3 times for not using the cycle lane (I never use them when they're up on the path unless the road isn't clear). I ignored the first one, and I could see him out of the corner of my eye positively seething. It was very satisfying. The other 2 I gave wry smiles to. Again, it drive them nuts. Good sport.

Why have motorists gotten so angry these past few days? The weather is fine. Its brighter for longer. The kids are off school so traffic is lighter. It makes no sense. Maybe they're just not getting laid enough.

Yeah, I will be doing this, I was just livid with his driving.

There are only cycle lanes in dublin where you don't actually need one. i.e. big wide streets. Once the street narrows. They just end. 'Of you go on your own there now. Mind yourself.'

my current favorite is on the inchicore road(i think). its a double one that goes against the one way traffic. It just ends and you have to face on coming traffic. Who think you're just acting the cnt.
