I'm pretty sure the main reason the "Gards" give a shit about "his case" is because he was a totally innocent victim of a brutal murder.

its fair enough though, is it not, in a world of limited police resources (doughnuts, overtime allowed)? its one thing for gangs to go around shooting each other, its to be expected if you get involved in that kinda thing. shooting outside the group is a bit more serious even if it is an accident - its bound to cause more general outrage than your everyday gang murder. is it not the case that there is a lot of effort being put in to the limerick crime thing?

instead of segregating them by whether or not it was gang related?
It's not like they're killing each other as often in Limerick as they are
in Dublin, so they have a better opportunity to analyse the situation and
get a clearer picture of what is happening in their city. If the Gards took
each murder seriously then maybe they could have taken either the gun
or the assassin out at an earlier stage.

They're meant to be the keepers of the peace for everyone,
not just turning a blind eye because someone's shifting dope.
Their policy of effectively ignoring gangland killings has led
to the gangs acting with total impunity. They're untouchable because
the cops don't want to touch them and not because they're scared.

My book of cold-hard-facts has gone for its annual walk for
another year, so I'm basing this on my intimate experience
with inept cops and applying it to the entire force, which I
reckon is FAIR ENOUGH.

It's a bit late now making a big show of this murder.
