HWCH 2009 (Who you looking forward to seeing?) (1 Viewer)

Hai Serpico, thanks for calling me retarded.

I am aware of the very famous John Lennon song, I was kind of hoping that there would be more to it than a pun that barely holds together. Turns out the festival was named by an idiot.

maybe me cos i'm retarded LOL

Sorry I is John, My ire was mainly directed at Cormoclash and mainly 'cause I like getting at punks. Soz if you got caught in the crossfire there dude.

Darby Crash, he's that guy who tried to look like Adam Ant so much it killed him, yeah?

It's the worst-named festival of the rogues gallery of dreadful Irish festival names. Castlepalooza & Indie-pendence in hot pursuit.

I enjoyed Adebisi Shank last night, as usual. Not music that usually grabs me but they're brilliant and mental.
Big enough crowd in ALT.

I caught Sweet Jane. Their new drummer is something else. Overall they're not really my cup of tea but they do what they set out to do very well.

Saw most of the Button Factory sets as we were playing there. Deaf Joe was the only one I liked. Fionn Regan is awful cheesy and his lyrics are terrible, though his voice is lovely and the band are very 'professional'. Great sound in that room last night, I thought.

You missed a great X Factor Moods, Simon reduced Cheryl to tears at one point!

not that I was watching it or anything

No way would I watch that industry wankfest, I Is John. Kill them all, they make me so mad I want to stab people.:mad::mad:

Are the Irish guys still in it? Hope so.

"Also, if the Arts Council really gave a shit, then instead of throwing money at 'independent' promoters to organise money making gigs in venues where everyone at the top is already making a profit, they would take all that cash and set up a truly independent venue in Dublin that people could use where all the money wouldn't just end up in the hands of venue owners, drinks companies, 'booking agents', etc."

they have - http://exchangedublin.ie/

There's only one band in ireland that are true working class heroes and that's the 'Lan.
Songs about working class people that working class people can sing along to, and none of that arty experimental shite.

That's what the Arts Council is meant to be for, creating a sustainable music and arts scene in the country, instead they just fucking throw money at shit like everyone else in Ireland does.

Ah here Cormac, as was pointed out already Exchange is Arts Council funded which just got their fire cert and are starting gigs already. Though I get the feeling Exchange are getting a lot less (Exchange got 18k for a full YEARS funding) than HWCH are getting.

I'm fairly sure Cormac knows all about Exchange. But it that doesn't excuse the fact that the arts council are throwing money at something aimed at making money for business people as opposed to musicians which seems to be his point.

Oh I know that and I completely agree. The Belltable Arts Centre in Limerick get several hundred thousand euros in funding each year and complain about not having enough.. That's just depressing like.
