About the outdoor gig thing I'd be up for helping out with it if anyone else is interested, I've got a pa and some backline and can get my hands on a couple of gazebos for the gear in case of rain, hopefully I'll have a van come summer time as well. Anyone else up for it?

How good is your PA?

It's 2 mackie 500w tops, 2 ev 300w subs, mackie mixer and behringer 2x750w power amp, all fairly new. I've used it a couple of times in bohs and seemed to be alright, loud enough for a small outdoor type thing I'd say(?).

Sounds alright, but it might be better to have something that's a step up from that, as if some outdoor gig does get organised and a reasonably big crowd turns up, it could end up with people not being able to hear much.

id say it would work cormac for say a trial run first one, have it somewhere between dublin n belfast so the people can meet half way, and if people have a hard time hearing it i mean so what the buzz there would be unreal wouldnt it though,

also you can go over and cry and mourn for giros which is now "the garage" a sauna for homosexual business men to bum each other in
homophobia! the worst disease. businessmen need love too.

bands i really wanted to see recently that i have missed because of laverys door policy : magrudergrind
you probably could have seen magrudergrind (or at least some of their entourage) if you'd looked outside your door at 5 am the next morning.

They're prob not 18 so would be useless for going to gigs in this day and age of the ID issues and seriously do you think these very same "Punks" would be interested in DIY Punk?
it doesn't seem like the 'real punks' you go on about are very interested in diy punk; they'd rather go to holidays in the sun and pay 50 quid to see 'crass' (steve ignorant + backing band) instead of supporting actual diy bands, based on prejudice about what punk should be.

but at the same time do they have the brains to be at most gigs diy gigs that are put on by people here ? have you seen the way most of em act around town etc. o you want that croppin up at gigs
i reckon whatever they might get up to couldn't be anywhere near as spectacularly retarded as what goes on already. eye-linered transition year students jumping around screaming and hugging each other like they were on a big brother reunion talkshow might be a refreshing change.

(sorry for the multiple replies all at once on this thread but i haven't had time to be reading eirecore for a good few days)

Holidays in the sun has plenty of unknown small bands who play and works out at 25 euros a day which includes 30+ bands + veggie/vegan facilities/proper booze and fuck all trouble.

I go to both DIY and also the bands that I grew up with, call it the old fashioned me wanting to see the spice girls/Take that groups reunion tours that we all have in us.

Steve Igs never played Blackpool btw.

:)

I notice you and Ken are picking this up totally wrong, what people are saying about the Central bank people is that they are prob more happy sitting around central bank on a Saturday then going to diy gigs, its like opinions, people here always look for the negatives.

For clarification sakes

sure theres a million people here that couldve been described as central bank kids at some stage, you just need to de-program them is all, if they're not willing to get into a dumpster then they're a lost cause

its not bout wearing the t-shirts etc. fuck i still wear the odd rancid t-shirt and have an afi tattoo that i got done 6 or 7 years ago, i mean stanto wears rancid and anti-flag hoodies and is one of the coolest mother fuckers you'll ever meet, the point i was trying to get across is that these kids or the vast, vast majority of them dont want to look past whats been put out or being put on by the majors, they have no interest in looking into the diy scene at all, their inclusion in the scene could force the loss of some venues possibly, i mean like venue owners can just bout put up with the punks as it is without the black parade marching through their venue or hanging out outside it screaming etc. i whole heartedly would welcome the ones that want to be there and have a genuine interest in the scene. i suppose the ones who make the transition into the diy scene are the ones who were truly there for the music and not the look, yeah posters flyers should be handed out in temple bar round the central bank, i suppose its a case of seeing who's who then and helping them make the transition

yeah the dole up here is fucking shit, finding a job is nigh on impossible as well if you dont want to work in a call centre. i would rather die than work in a call xcentre again

When i was on the dole in England it was 80 quid a fortnight. Almost 10 years later and it's still at 80 quid!?!?!?!?!?!?

IT BEGGARS BELIEF!

The Irish dole must have almost doubled over this same period of time. Must be down to the socialist government.

And to be fair, hanging around central bank is for the most part, as far as I can remember, boring as fuck. Unless you feel like getting HYPER or giving HUGS to everyone.

that's a mental thing to say, how can you possibly say that? that's how most people here today started out. bad metal - better metal - punk (and back to bad metal)
