They'd better do a preemptive strike so, in the manner of "you all saw him, he had a gun."

Lots of clips of George Galloway on Twitter today

He was very impressive at one point

It all seemed to go wrong for him when he called out the Blair Labour Party for their bullshit

Entitled little college shitbag

It’s weird how fired up people on Thumped were about the Russian invasion of Ukraine - tankies and all - but there’s relative silence now that the world’s on fire in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen and Sudan (and Myanmar, and Ukraine, and still in Syria).

I’m not asking for Thumped pricks ‘opinions’, just reflecting that the relative silence is notable.

the 'hellworld' thread was where most of the discussion on gaza originally went... until I think the sheer grinding hellish nature of it made discussion moot

the 'ukraine' thread has been very quite of late. bits of discussion pop up in other threads as things happen.

Thumped is pretty much 10-20 odd people posting semi regularly at this point

(sorry if that fell in the category of 'opinion')

I find it harder to pass comment on Gaza because it's an all out one sided massacre that I'm seeing unfold on Instagram. There's not much I can say of use because I think everyone on thumped is seeing the same thing. All anyone can say most days is that Israel have attacked more vulnerable people.

It's more holy war than Putin's Ukraine ego trip.

The American Christians prefer Jews and everything else follows.

In those situation if you are expecting someone else to talk about something you sorta part of the 'silence' though, if not propogating it.

In all fairness though, simply enough it's hard to have a conversation on thumped about gaza because it's hard to have a conversation where everyone is in agreement. Nobody is gonna shut it down, it was my suggestion to maybe not do a thread because you know fucking who would have thier bots and so forth crawling all over the place #searchresults

I've been to a few protests and did a bit of fundraising stuff and will probably do more, and i know a fair few people on thumped have been at things too

It's horrific and we are mostly powerless to stop it beyond protests and aid, i do hope the shannon call for next week goes well though

In the topic of the thread, i kinda think isreal are hyper escalating to effectivly trap american into not being able to back out by inducing choas on many fronts so regardless of election outcome it's too fucked up.
I also think that america is probably starting to look at netanyahu a bit like they did ghaddaffi and some 'uprising' will be the end of him with a milder mannered puppet ready to step in

I mentioned Gaza a lot recently. I watch Al Jazeera every day, have been to lots of protests, met lovely Palestinian folks this year and gave lots of money to Palestinian fundraisers.
Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq and Syria are strongly interconnected - if not all part of the same Western war on Arabs.
I don't know much about Yemen unfortunately.
Sudan's big problem seems to be there very few journalists there.
I know very little about Myanmar.

I have started about 15 or 20 threads on Thumped in nearly 20 years. So it whatever comes up really.
And as others have said their is not very people here anymore. 50 odd people and only 20 or so posting a lot.

Interesting thing here - been reading a lot over the past while (particularly in the past year) about how, in a similar vein to the neo-con/alt-right/libertarian movement in the US the right has intentionally infiltrated certain institutions etc., gradually making their once fringe view points more mainstream(including the IDF etc. - I'm not claiming that in 1982 they were a bunch of hippies who took a wrong turn and accidently invaded lebanon or anything)

Bibi is a pollical survivor who has shaped a lot of domestic and foreign policy around his own personal agenda, but in doing so he's harnessed and emboldened a wider move in israeli society, which will mean even if he goes, there's unlikely to be a seachange in terms of the policy of whoever replaces him.

To back up what @ann post said above. I agree that in part the reason that Gaza isn't discussed here as much is that everyone is broadly in agreement whereas WRT Ukraine there has been some disputes over it, similarly with trans rights issues which come up from time to time. During repeal abortion wasn't talked about much either because I can only really remember there being one pro-life regular here.

A bunch of almost exclusively Irish people mostly with an interest in either consuming or creating some kind of art, the view on Gaza is in keeping with what you'd expect.

I believe his popularity at home has had a big boost thanks to his achievements of the last week or so
