lots of times spent buying and watching old favourites on DVD and checking out movies I'd hadn't previously got round to seeing.

Tokyo Story is amazing. One of the best ever. Heartbreaking in parts.

Just yesterday got a copy of The Lost Weekend from a trade. Not seen it yet. Looking forward to it.

I did like Howls Moving Castle a lot tho' not quite as much as Spirited Away - I wonder will Mr. Miyazaki get any thing out this year

I thought HMC was Miyazaki's least interesting film to date. Not out-and-out bad, but it didn't really do much for me. Not even close to his best (not that anyone cares, but Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind would be my own personal fave of his).

I dunno what Miyazaki Senior is working on right now (possibly nothing, as he's supposedly thinking of re-retiring), but the Tales of Earthsea film directed by his son came out in South Korea and Japan last year, so I assume it'll be showing up here soon enough.

krossie

Photon is right Miyazaky´ son in this year made Gedo senky: Tales of Earthsea You have here the trailer with english subtitles and the typical japanish Karaoke, I hope will see it soon

You keep your ticket stubs?
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

You were right about those six films at the end. Especially Hostel.

Uh oh, Flags Of Our Fathers not good? Was gonna go see it tomorrow. Funnily enough, with my father.

i looked here
to remind myself what films i liked and disliked this year:

some of the films i liked this year:
little miss sunshine
the squid and the whale
syriana
walk the line
the departed
friends with money
stranger than fiction
a cock and bull story
thank you for smoking

and im sure tons of others that i cant remember

films that disappointed me this year:
clerks 2
me you and everyone we know
the devil wears prada
talladega nights

and the one that i didnt expect to be good:
superman returns

How did that go?!?!

I really liked it me self.

- Apparently it's to be followed by one from the Japanese point of view - hopefully Clint has got a few years left in him cos that sounds like a great idea

I thought the guy playing Ira Hayes was deadly and that the film dealt with the whole issue of an "injun" hoisting the flag and the consequences very well - sad tale
