How is it done and what tools do I need. I have some keyboards and talking toys i want to fiddle with.

get a test cable, turn the pedal on open it up. move the points of the cable round till something mental happens make a note of where the mad shit happens and build a switch to switch on/off the mental shit

It's all a little too vague dude
 
Main point that nobody seems to have mentioned. If you dont know what you're doing start with toy keyboards or battery powered stuff.

NEVER EVER EVER start fucking around with mains keyboards, instruments etc if you don't know what you're doing!!
