Not that I'm surprised but it falls somewhere between Interpol and Bloc Party without the style of either.

Has anyone here actually entered for this prize?

I checked their website and it's a bit unclear on how they compile the shortlist.

From listening to Jim Carroll on Tom Dunne when the shortlist was announced my understanding is this:

You can't 'enter' as such, each of the judges were asked to submit their ten favourite albums of the year in order of preference. If they wanted they could have a list of the 180 Irish albums released this year - apparently not everyone wanted the list.

The order of preference given by the judges was a 'score' for each album and the ten with the highest score made the list.

My understanding of this means that if ten of the judges put your album at no. 10 on their list, you would get ten points but if only four of the judges put Snow Patrol at no. 1 on their list - Snow Patrol would have 40 points - thus making the list ahead of you.

No, I think it'll be soon though, I just turned it on now and Tom Dunne said that Duke Special is the last performer and he's going on now.

I heard the Immediate on Phantom on that Irish language show on Sunday morning. Or possibly some other night, I'm not sure, but I thought it was really realyl excellent. Some song about a ghost. The Duke Special song they played (Choice Awards special show) was exactly the same as The Universal by Blur.
