without adding to the fire, I can't think of any genuine contenders from the fairer sex for the award. It would be worse if there was a token female nominee for the sake of it if you ask me.

That said, not a hell of a lot impresses me about the list there, with the notable exception of Si Schroeder.

Not that I'm crazy about his stuff, he's alright but he's a far better guitarist than most of the people here who ostensibly play "folk".

i saw him play with joanna newsom a couple of years back, pretty boring but i thought his guitar playing was pretty nice
