Were they all ex-west coast types who found themselves in the east realising that people in Dublin might find out their effected neutreal accent and cosmopoltan city demeanor is a thin veil shrouding someone with deep roots in rural life with a bit of an accent - any twitch of dancing would reveal this to the rest of the audience and nobody wanted to jump first kinda people?
