Exit Stage Left: Gigs You Walked Out From (1 Viewer)

This was a good album that I haven’t listened to in about 25 years.

I know nothing else by them.
Much more metal than I remember. So much for the old brain.

Not my story, but my wife and pals left a Frames gig in Marley Park early because they just went for Supergrass. They went on the rip in Whelans after and Paddy Casey striked up a conversation with her at the bar. When she/or friend said they were at Marley park but left after Supergrass he just turned his back on them without another word. Ha.
AMAZING

I remember I was given tickets to go see Moon Duo years ago in the Workman’s. I liked the album but only lasted about 2 or 3 songs into the gig. It was pretty tedious

I played a couple of solo gigs, supporting hands up who wants to die, probably fifteen years ago now, in france. one gig was in some weird french squatted farm. the other band on the bill was a basque crust-punk trio that were so spectacularly awful that most of the room left — including all of us, i.e. the other acts playing that night. we just waited outside for them to be done. no idea what they were called but possibly the worst band I’ve ever seen.

Was it this farm in Belgium? Bienvenue sur le site de la Ferme !

My first gig was in the Attic supporting some blues band. They were awful, so I left and found loads of pals outside. Then the headline band joined us. Every single person had left the venue, so they decided to 'stop for a tea break'.

There's been gigs I wanted to walk out of but wasn't able to. A gig in Kilkenny springs to mind where our gear was being used by a band on after us.
There was a Danish guy playing Electric Picnic one year. I forget the name he went by but I went to his set to see what he was like. Not very good, is the answer, but there were only about 7 people there and I was standing right in his line of vision. I couldn't bring myself to leave because he was clearly already upset at the lack of people there.

awww... good on ya. what kind of music was he playing?

The last gig I went to Deerhunter in Whelans, there was a guy with a laptop as the opening act.
The first track was just low, rumbling, distorted bass frequencies that went on for maybe 8 minutes
then it ended. The next track was more of the same. The third one started and it was same again. Fuck this shit. I like a bit of noise as much as anyone but when its just formless, random nonsense that goes on too long my patience runs out. My back was hurting, so I went to the chipper.

Ha, I'm fairly sure that was the solo project of Deerhunter's drummer.

I was trying to have a chat with mates, but there was a DJ playing techno shit.
Literally no one in the room liked it. It was a good set if you're into that kind of thing. Really good. But not for me. On this particular night. I waited and waited for a drop. Aaànd nothing.

It was loud and booming but nothing happened.
I even did this, to explain to drinking buddy why I was leaving:

no, it was proper rural france. apparently they had a famous punk goat there. and a fancy pizza oven. these were their great contributions to humanity.
