The remix album isn't out till the 24th is it? The few remixes I have are generally pretty good, not amazing though.

I have a 2ls album from 96 or 97 which is again ok but not great. Tiny reminders is one of my favorite electronic records of the last few years though.

'doing fuck all'
nice one!

if you're so utterly convinced im just checking my email then by all means come&peer at the screen.

and no its not porn-surfing either.
or playing tetris. or solitaire.
or whatever else people like to come up with whenever anyone with a laptop plays.
im sure there'd be no problems if i brought in, say, 5 bits of analog gear and didnt actually plug them into anything. then everything'd be allrite. wow! no emailchecking there.

i'll have anything from 1 to 16 or more loops being toggled, mangled at, effected and brought in + taken out. i dont go to a set and load a readily-prepared collection of them, no, instead, start from scratch and basically just bring separate sequences and portions of previously released or unreleased tracks in, work at a kind of progression and take them out, trying to guide the whole thing into a reasonable set. if it was all just playing tracks via winamp or traktor, then perhaps it wouldn't be so messy, shoddy and full of accidents + mistakes.

i.e. if i wasnt changin stuff every roughly 1-2-4-8-16-32 bars, it'd stay the same forever and that'd be it.

but feel free to knock it, obviously im not actually DOING anything, what with not moving sliders and knobs around and looking very important whilst doing it. what am i supposed to do? create 2-4 tracks out of scratch on a sequencer and have them take about 15-30minutes each and not progress anywhere?, while having 'creative' pauses caused by cpuoverloads, buggy vstinstruments/plugins etcetera?
it might be full 100% live, but it sure as hell won't be very interesting.

chill out, as I'm sure you can tell the tone of my messages were lighthearted, I enjoyed your set, its just I (and other peple I know) just do find it kinda boring watching someone sitting behind a laptop. Yeah you probably are doing more than someone with '5 bits on analog gear', but seeing as they are using more piecs of kit, there is more movement on stage, and it may seem a bit more exciting? I'm sorry if you took offence at my comments, I repeat I DID enjoy your set, I'm not saying what your doing behind that screen isn't very complicated, I'm just saying as a live performance I don't find it very exciting, thats all.

yep, its not, and it probably wont be any more exciting if i stand or sit down during it.
i dont know if it'd be any more interesting if someone captures a feed from the screen and uses it for visuals so that people could actually see whats going on either.

hey lackluster on thumped
welcome

im lookin forward to the gig on saturday
i wanna see how you check your mail and make fine music
at the same time!

i unfortunately missed mor

Maybe a live feed from the laptop could help, I remember seeing someone do this a few years ago and it was kinda interesting, I just don't think you can get away from the fact that when you play on a laptop movement by the performer is limited, and personally for me this is a drawback.

sorry, that track (28/06/00) is, well, lost. and since the main lead is improvised playing, i cant really just try to replicate it. unfortunately, a bunch of tracks have been lost due to buggy software etc.
