Laminate laying is one of those ‘superficially simple jobs’ looking good

I still managed to fuck up the start of it and a number of boards in the process.
Stupid non square room was annoying so I kind of ignored it. After we insulate the walls it'll be square anyway

But yeah once you get the knack of it you're flying. And it looks aaaaalright

Here's after I've moved some stuff back in. Nothing is properly unpacked or wired but it's technically a useable space again. Cheapo temporary multi-guitar rack arriving next week IMG_3797.jpeg

I just fixed our oven* and didn't kill myself in the process.

* ok it was just a fan element replacement but I had to identify the problem, source a replacement part, make it to the shop before they closed at 2pm, fail to install it because a screw bracket thing was the wrong way round, slightly modify it with pliers, some painful bending, and swearing, fail to install it again because the old screws were too big for the new part, find screws that would work, install it, and then reassemble the oven

You didn't get a man in?

Does anyone know anything about this stuff?

It's T-cut metal restorer, if you don't want to click the link.

Got some from work and one guy from yard said it'd be good for polishing the doorknobs etc. He said it in a dismissive sarcastic way. In work we're using it to polish weather-beaten metal things.

Just has anyone ever used it? I'll read the data sheet on the train tomorrow. But personal experience is valuable.

All I know is my father in law used to swear by the stuff.

my comprehension of it is that it cuts the clearcoat layer on a car - so particularly of you drive an old car that looks like it was found at the bottom of the sea like an 07 van or something, it trims the scuffed clearcoat layer leaving a new shine on it

A cutting compound is what’s used on paint to restore the top coat by finely rubbing the top layer down a bit. You can either polish up the results or clear coat them.
Or if there is still scratches, wet sand @ 3000 grit, failing that, go coarser until it’s gone,
Then sand in different grades all the way up
