Thumped Guitar Players Rig Rundown (1 Viewer)

dying to get a 12 string dano myself, but it's hard to justify another guitar

Gretsch & Copicat

I'd love a Copicat too..I don't need one..but I sure would like one

The Explorer sounds great and is really versatile but I'm going off the neck. It's a bit too wide and not nearly fat enough. Gives you a sore hand after a while.

ES-135 just got the new Bigsby for it,and am waiting to have the cash to buy some real P-90's for it as the noiseless P-100's in it are pretty bland
it plays great though...

Guitars from left to right:

Fender US Stratocaster - Ash body. Very bright guitar and it took me a while to figure it out, but I love it now.

Gibson SG Classic - Wanted a guitar with two p90s, so I sold my LP Jr. and got this. Looks black, is actually a really dark translucient brown. Does jangle, does rock. Big thick neck. Solid.

Danelctro longhorn bass - Strung up with flatwounds, great thump off it. Being a Dano there is shag all sustain, so I use it with a compressor on all the time.

Gibson SG '61 reissue - Put a Bigsby with a Vibramate on it. Takes the strings a while to settle down, but when they do it holds the tuning just fine. My favourite thing about this guitar is the pickups. Low output HBs. You really hear the guitar, and not the electrics.

Fender US Telecaster - My favourite guitar and the first really good one I ever bought. Feels like home. Made in 1987/88 at a time when Fender were just building back up their production of strats and teles, and the guitars were only being built by a few poeple. Quality.

Fender/Warmouth P-Bass - Fender body, Warmouth neck. Bought it of an old dude in Chicago who had built it to be like a Donald 'Duck' Dunne bass and played it in his church band. Electrics periodically give me jip, but it feels great, and for a P-bass it's reasonably light.

Danelectro longhorn baritone guitar - Great fun with fuzz and distortion but actually sounds really great with a loud clean amp. Not used it that much to be honest, so I should probably try to write a few bits on it.

(Not pictured because there's loads of crap siting on the case) Charvel Superstrat - Cheap early 90s metal axe. AMAZING action for the widdly widdly stuff. Seymore Duncan Live wire pickup in it that's like having a distortion pedal in your guitar. It will not do clean and needs two 9v batteries to work! |m|

Amps from left to right:

Ashdown Evo II 575 head - This actually belongs to hugh. We've been sharing a bass rig for a few years. He owns the head, and we went splits on the two Ashdown cabs (2x10 and 1x15 (not pictured)) that we use with it. Never given a moment of bother, nice tone and plenty loud.

Fender Blues Junior - Used to belong to Derrick Dalton, so it's infused with Jangle. Derrick had some smart mods done (presence control - takes away harshness without dulling the sound, and a clean boost) and I just upgraded the speaker, so this amp sounds pretty great my ears now. A LOUD 15 watts.

Blackstar Artisan 2x12 open backed cab - My old Marshall 4x12 never got along with my Orange head (sounded really fizzy), so Jimi pretty much let me swap it for this. Best cab I've ever owned. Loud and clean, but still sounds good at reasonable volumes.

Orange TH30 - 30 watt head, switchable down to 15 and 7 watts. Clean channel has a plexi/Vox thing going on, which I love. Dirty channel gets insanely metal but isn't as loud as the clean channel, which is a little annoying. Still, it's a very versatile amp.

Orange 1x12 cab - It's got a Warehouse Veteran 30 speaker in it. Sounds good, and it's very portable.

Recording King ROS 616 - 12 fret 000 acoustic. Always liked small bodied acoustic guitars, so when I found I needed one for live stuff earlier this year I decided to get one. Made the choice to get a guitar, and then add a pickup as people who know said that's how to get the most for your money. Wide, classical style fretboard. All solid mahogany, and really plain looking. The pickup is an LR Baggs M1A. Sounds and plays brilliantly.

When I try to down tune like this it gets horribly distorted, strings hit off the pick-ups... general shitness ensues

I wanted one for AGES. Got tax back a few years ago and just bought one.

I wish i was as good as that guy.

Would love a Fender VI and I just found out Ian Squarehead has one so gonna get my hands on it for a spin soon ish.
