HWCH 2009 (Who you looking forward to seeing?) (2 Viewers)

thought it was something like €25 to have your demo even listened to?

Nope. You just register your band on breakingtunes and then judges pick out 100 bands. You get beer tokens. Backline is provided if you want to use it. If you are from outside Dublin it will cost you petrol money etc.

We played at Andrews Lane last night and it was very well organised with decent crew, sound/light people etc.

Seemingly you get a fair bit of money from IMRO for it and that's the only payment. They supply backline & prefer that you don't bring gear, no room, not enough change over time. So it shouldn't really cost you anything to play. All the engineers were cool in Twisted Pepper, played through a nice Marshall JCM 800 100w but couldn't get my sound, oh well, was prepared for that.

We brought our own cab and guitar heads. They didn't mind at all. Robotniks who played before us brought this monstrocity of a welded thingymejiggy with them. Took a good while to set up.

Yeah, much smaller stage in Twisted Pepper though.
So stricter, understandably.
Darren sounded like he was playing surf guitar. I had to borrow his tubescreamer for my bass.

Not ideal, but there you have it.

Well run festival, lovely accomodating people.
There you have it.
