It is rather good yes.

Head and shoulders above everything for me this year is Boxer.

Not seen the new Beirut or Sunset Rubdown albums mentioned here, I like both of those very much.

I am seriously in love with Spencer Krug. The Beirut is very good (been on repeat since I got it) and I am listening to Sunset now. I had no idea there was a new album. Yay, to this thread!

The Handsome Furs should be good at Whelans in October.

He could well wind up being Robert Pollard for the 21st century such is the speed that he works. Have you heard the Swan Lake album? "All Fires" is one of the best tunes he's ever written.

I really, really like Plague Park. A friend of mine was at Harvard for a couple of months this summer and saw them at T.T. The Bears, he said they were great and are a really nice couple to boot.

I'm really worried that we'll never hear from Wolf Parade again. DO they have a new album lined up? All this other work (Sunset Rubdown, Handsome Furs, Swan Lake) is all well and good and I like a lot of it but Wolf Parade are a band in a million. The sum of their parts and then some. It would be a shame if they didn't make about 15 records.

Yeah to all off that. I miss TT's. [sigh]

Favourite album by a long shot is Butcher Boy - Profit in your poetry. Nothing else really stood out. Mahogany - Connectivity!, but I've a feeling that was released at the tail end of last year.

songs (these are mostly from singles I bought this year - I've no idea whether they were released this year or not):

Bricolage - Looting Takes The Waiting...
Dntel - The Distance
James Figurine - 99
Los Campesinos - You Me Dancing
1990s - See you at the lights
My Teenage Stride - Now That Should Stand For Something
Bearsuit - More Soul Than Wigan Casino

uh.. were any of the caUSE coMOTION! singles released this year? probably not.
