i'd be tempted to say something about the house writers like king/holland/dozier etc being barely songwriters. they were essentially more into demographics most of the time.

I wish I knew about demographics like that.A top ten hit would suit me nicely.

i've had commerical radio at work recently to contend with, and i've noticed that all the songs (that arent from a film or ad campaign) that make the top ten are either girls giving out shit to guys (beyonce, lily allen, lady gaga) or guys telling women thier brilliant.

Prince is always a very divisive presence in top 5 threads.I'll have to admit to a great admiration for the man.But he lost me around the sign of the times.
