People do seem to give bands with a girl/girls a second look, or sometimes even cut them a bit more slack when judging their music. We were playing a gig in Dorans a few years ago and watching a (not very good) band with a girl singer sound checking, when our own singer piped up:

Singer: This band are alright aren't they?

Guitarist: No, they're shite.

Singer: I'm going to ride the singer.


No singers were rode that night.
