I knew the name, saw the cool album cover photo and knew some of the samples but never put it all together and checked out who this brother was.
Baby Huey (1944 -1970) died before his first and only album came out.
Amazing psychedelic soul with awesome singing and stellar musicians.

Haven’t listened to that in years, must give it a spin over the week

Also discovered this tonight played between bands at a gig. I'm amazed I never heard this one before.
Scottish post punk was famous for its love of melody but this EP from 1979 is slightly more off kilter. The first song is brilliant.

Listened to the BLACK MERDA album twice as I did with the COSMIC TRUTH tune.

it's a bit different from BABY HUEY - wider range of influences with a lot more rock, psych and blues.
I am not familiar with this kind of stuff apart George Clinton stuff or very early Kool and The Gang or Betty Davis etc.
Still prefer Huey but I will keep listening. Thanks.
I suppose they knew merda means shit in Spanish.

I'm surprised I've never heard of these guys before

Rose Tattoo's Pete Wells on bass

I had heard some OK punk tunes from Berlin band ABWARTS and knew FM Einheit from NEUBAUTEN had been in them but these songs from 1981 are great.

Inevitably Einheit uses an angle grinder here.

Another Berlin band from 1981 with Manon Duursma from Malaria!
Never got beyond demo stage.

Marc Chung was also in Abwarts (he’s playing bass there), they left for Neubauten together. I never got into Abwarts, too traditional punk for me.

Sprung were weird enough for me but only know a few things from compilations. Vinyl on Demand did some cool box sets from that era and there was another compilation called Berlin Super 80s which came with a DVD of Super 8 movies from the era.
