What type of music programmes would people like to see on TV? (1 Viewer)

No Disco

A good show of videos/live material from people who don't get played on tv that often (if ever)

I live ones like other voices that have the live element but also the interviews with the performer. In an usual setting can keep it interesting

A show that is completely independent of the shitty Irish music industry run by people who know music and who know that it takes time to build a serious music show and who are not too terrified by ratings to take the occasional risk

I work in TV production yes, but really I was just asked as a music fan for a few ideas for programmes. I'm just putting out the question to the forum.

do you know Babecast that's on the sky digitals really high up in the numbers, just before the proper porn?

something like that with maybe reviews and gig listings

The format is infinitely less important than getting the right people & by proxy the right adventures in music on board - and by right I mean anything from any genre from the last 75 years that had a spark to it. Seeing music shows claiming to be innovative and for "serious music lovers" that cant get past middle of the road indie music * from the last 5 years is just depressing

*Like The Jimmy Cake Vinnie? Probably.

*chortle*

"I've got a text here from a ...Gorrillamunch?! who wants me to take off my top. Here's Battles with 'tonto'"

Etc.

Yeah, not genre based, but driven by a real love of music. Real music lovers don't stick to a single genre anyway. I think, too, if you look at that favourite-band-ever thread, a good proportion of the favourites-ever were not indie bands at all.

Music is a labour of love, and the programme would respect that, regardless of whether a band wanted to be famous rock stars. Some lucky people get to make a living out of it, but my ideal music programme would not pay very much heed to some universal marker of success along label/financial lines.

A programme I would really like would also not be afraid to follow tangents, look at social histories of music, interesting little stories that maybe aren't 'cool'.

My ideal music programme would be very much uncool and would not revere the haircut.

what constitutes a "real music lover"?

Shabba?
