What movie did you watch last night? (11 Viewers)

Watched The World's Fastest Indian the other night. I want to give Anthony Hopkins a really big hug.

I was all, "Is this like a sports movie or something?" and not wanting to see it.

And Mr Jane was all, "Aw, no, give it a chance." And I did and I really loved it. I usually hate anything that promises to be 'uplifting' because by 'uplift' they mean 'emotionally manipulate', but it wasn't like that at all.

It's one of those films in the video store that I keep walking by and never picking up. Must check it out.
Last video I ignored for ages like that was Hotel Rwanda.

That was how I felt about it. Mr Jane bought it in a sale, and he kept going, "Let's watch it!" And I'd find a reason not to, not really sure why. But it's a really sweet movie. Watch it when you're in the mood to see good win out over evil. It's not even 'over evil' because honestly, most of the people he meets along his journey are quite lovely, and they either admire him or relate to him.

Hotel Rwanda was tough viewing altogether.

Very tempted to pick up volume one there. You don't get many extras with individual KL dvds.

BTW do you download movies from the internet?

I'm a member of http://karagarga.net/

It's invite only...but everything is there. I mean everything. It's very well-policed though with strict guidelines on what you can and cannot do. It's a true beacon of light and hope with a genuine sense of community on the web.

I just nabbed some interviews with Orson Welles from Swedish TV conducted by Bergman.
Some kind soul on the forum burned English subs onto the rip.

This is the kind of forum it is.

I don't download because I have an old PC - soon to be rectified I hope.
Will check out that place then - sounds good!

It's invite only...I'll sort you out though. Essentially it's for people looking for stuff which isn't available on dvd or long out of print on dvd/vhs or not available in a particular region.

Inland Empire is there and someone's put Polish subs on the parts that didn't have Polish subs in the theatrical release.
It's mind-boggling.

I've just been showing my missus the rushes for the new P.T. Anderson movie.

We're gay for Daniel-Day.

PM me when you get a new PC.

Oh it's great for deleted/unreleased albums too.

Would you like a cd copy of 'Time Fades Away' for instance? Not the vinyl version burnt to cd but the cd mastered version that Shakey pulled the plug on.

nice one thanks Mitchum.
Time Fades Away - would love on CD.
My vinyl is well played at this stage and the version I burned to CDR is no great shakes.

Sorted.

It's a recent thing too.

Sounds...*immaculate*.

It's how Neil entended it too. Heh. Before he pulled it.

(I need to buy jiffy bags but consider it done)

Pleasentville on Sky movies comedy now!! Seen this years back, deadly film, Toby Maguire from Spiderman is one of the stars...so interesting to watch a 2nd time.

The Ex - man, this could have been so much better. It's pretty funny in places, but it has the feel of a movie that's been butchered in editing.

Ever Since The World Ended - really, really good. My only complaint would be that at 78 minutes it's way too short.

the 300: looks fantastic, but its basically like watching a cross between a music video and the best computer game you have never played. entertaining, but thats about it. i also get the feeling it will look horribly dated in only a few years.

shaun of the dead: umpteenth time watching this, still good fun. crosses the line at times between comedy and drama remarkably well.

not movies as such:
last night:

dylan moran - "like, totally". its the follow up to the "monster" dvd. in pretty much every way: it's "monster 2", really. of the same quality and tone (though thankfully earlier material is not repeated). if you liked "monster", you will like this. i do and i do.

south park - "cartman sucks" from series 11. crude tripe, and satire at its worst, stone + parker can churn out this stuff so easily from their now deeply exhuasted blend of scatological obsession and soapbox moralism. if they are going to pose questions, i would at least like see them attempt to make a couple of jokes.

fonejacker - episode one. never seen this before, very amusing in some parts and rather pointless in others. the editing and presentation has a whiff of nathan barley's "trashbat" about it, alas.

lately been watching:
louis theroux's "weird weekends": amazing stuff, particularly hilarious and thought provoking are the episodes centering around hypnotism and pornography.

derren brown : "mind control". extremely entertaining, fascinating and incredible.

"extras". ricky gervais' second sit-com should be a disaster, the celebrity guests made me doubt it from the outset. regardless, an excellent comedy, and all the guest stars do very well (the les dennis episode reminds me of the work of mike leigh). unfortunately, the final episode is by far the weakest, it lets down the series like a bucket of ice water on an erection.

Too Fast Too Furious, not half as bad as I thought it would be. It's actually quite good.

I watched this film because the reviews said it was so bad....also 'cos Milla Jovovich
was in it. :)

Wasn't nearly as bad as the reviewers said, more like watching a cross of a hi tech game/comic, once you didn't take it too seriously.

Lovely colour in the film would be good to play as a film demo promoting the pictures of the latest tvs etc :D
