I was at a screening of Moon a few years ago and Duncan Jones was there doing a q&a after. Some lad gets the microphone “uhhh yeah how come there was normal gravity inside the moon base?”
Jones leans forward and says “we made this film for 4 million pounds”

I don’t think Dad Astra had the same problem.

watched event horizon and three kings over the last few nights, first time in many years seeing them, the last couple of nights. three kings has aged way better out of the two.

Knife + Heart. French Giallo style slasher set in the world of late 70s gay porn. Had more depth than I was expecting.

Phantom Thread. Somewhere in the middle of PT Anderson's oeuvre. Better than Inherent Vice and Hard Eight but nowhere near as good as Boogie Nights or The Master. Some great line deliveries by Daniel Day. "Are you a special agent sent here to ruin my evening and possibly my entire life?"

I started watching Parasite but couldn't get into it. Think I was too tired so will give it another shot.

Saw Amanda in the ifi tonight, totally magnificent film about a young fella that has to learn how to look after his 7 year old niece after her mum dies. It's heart-breaking and beautiful, special film. Amazing score too, a proper film score that sounds like the composer has actually had time to do it properly.

Finally saw the Joker a week or two ago. Sorry everyone, I thought it was GREAT. Not only that but I thought it was actually kind of SUBTLE in places. Especially about the race stuff.

Saw 1917 today, it was fuckin great alright, although it does bug me that it's another Dunkirk kind of thing, like both great films but I reckon not every war film has to be so totally full on in your face to be great too.
