What movie did you watch last night? (21 Viewers)

As an aside, I check Film4 and TCM 1/2 every day to see if there's anything decent on. I've had some success in the past, The Apartment, Manhattan, The Misfits etc have been on. Are there any other free movie channels that are worth checking? The other ones seem terrible for anything but softcore porn. Shame I didn't see them channels 6 years ago really, 13 year old me would have been very appreciative.

Excellent Low budget, single location 'Sci-fi' film. A man claims to be 14,000 years old at his leaving party to his Univercity Colleges.

William Forsythe and some other guy as the G-men, Gary Busey not used enough and some dude Robert Goulet as the Devil (I don't know who he is but he gets an "and Robert Goulet as the Devil" credit, so presumably the name means something to someone. He's an ok devil, better than Peter Fonda's Lance Henriksen impersonating devil anyway). Directed by Christopher Coppola, who also did Nic Cage's Deadfall.

I am in favour of the following things in films: William Forsythe returning from Hell to do Bogart impersonations, Gary Busey sexually harrassing male FBI agents, Jeffrey Lebowski transferring souls into talking Ronald Reagan puppets.

You should give the commentary on Starship Troopers a listen if you ever get a chance.

"YES YOU IDIOTS I WAS BEING IRONIC, HOW STUPID ARE YOU?????" for about 2 hours

According to wikipedia, Goulet's rise to fame started at the age of five when his aunts and uncles blackened his face with burnt cork and prompted him to do Al Jolson impressions. Though his performance was well-received by his relatives, the experience was deeply traumatic for the young Goulet, and left him with performance anxiety which plagued him for many years.

i'm in the mood for a damn good western tonight, any recommendations?
I don't know if you have seen Open Range?... starring Kevin Coster and Robert Duvall. Great western, beautifully shot , great acting and storyline and runs at a nice pace. My favorite western of all time would have to be " The man who Shot Liberty Valance'.

Underground fighting film with Jacky Wu / Wu Jing. Pretty good. He does one of those jumps where he kicks a guy on either side of him and gets the guy in front with both knees before he land.

This is utter crap shite, by the guy who did Versus, which is not shite. Action scenes are atrociously bad, and people keep pulling Wesley Snipes in Blade poses even though they have not done anything or are not about to do anything impressive enough to justify such a pose. This is really really shite.

Hard to go wrong with the Shaw Brothers really. This film does indeed have two heroes, who do kung fu on each other and later on bad guys.

The Virgin Spring, aka Max Von Sydow's Last House On The Left. This is all about religion, guilt and revenge, not necessarily in that order.

This is one of your Western revenge pictures, except Raquel Welch is the one getting the revenge. She has a few good lines that wouldn't be out of place in a Clint film. Christopher Lee as a gunsmith. Ernest Borgnine as Ernest Borgnine.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Entertaining silliness.

Picnic at Hanging Rock, from 1975.. Beautifully shot and creeped me out, though I found the second half of it dealing with the events after the disappearances to be much less interesting than the first.

Bad Lieutenant
bad-lieutenant-herzog-poster.jpg

Werner Herzog deliberately(?) making a farce and utterly taking the piss for two hours. At it's heart it's bleak comedy of sorts it's more bad santa than Harvey Kietels bad lieutenant (Val Kilmers charachter seems "badder" than Cages) . Cages decent into unhinged is well orchastrated and two scene near the end
When Xhibit shoots the dancing soul and when one after another Cage's problems are solved as people turn up at his desk to tell him everything's fine
are laugh out loud funny and leave you in no doubt that Werner is indeed taking the piss out of you. Cage is on fine Cage form and plays extreme back pain perfectly. If you don't like a talented director deliberately taking the piss, you won't like this if you don't like Cage, you definitely won't like this (he's in every scene). I really enjoyed it.
