What movie did you watch last night? (2 Viewers)

Rounders is good in a “half watching it on BBC2 at 1.30am on a Monday because your desperately trying to extend the weekend for as long as possible but know it’s a terrible idea to start watching a movie at this time” kind of way.

The imitation game

I agree with none of the things on poster. Buddy movie acting/direction. I still love Kiera Knightley. Fake wartime england rammed into a film canister to be shipped to america. I can see nothing but his nose most of the time which isn't his or the directors fault but it does color my opinion.

The last seduction.

Jesus the 90's. Somewhere between soft porn, pulp novel and slapstick (which i think is unintentional). S'alright though. I mean like an episode of cold case is alright.
Ha, great description of the latter. Haven't seen the former but I feel I'd agree on most points hence my indifference.

I watched John Carpenter's Christine. It was actually It Follows that made me want to revisit this. They both capture the spookiness of suburban towns through beautiful minimal scores. Probably Carpenter & Alan Howarth's best collaboration and has an eerie dream-like quality to the cinematography that rivals the weird tone of Phantasm.

Had a movie night with a friend where we watched Rabid and City Of The Living Dead as a double bill. I love Rabid and hadn't seen it in years. City Of The Living Dead is one of the most insane films I've ever seen. Even after seeing it around ten times I have no idea what's going on, but it looks great and it's got an amazing score. The closing shot is CRAZY and makes no sense. I love it!

A couple of nights ago:

Never saw it before. Loved it. They looked totally fucked towards the end. Fuck it, shouldnt have deleted it off the upc box.

And last night in screen:

A bit of a weepy. I thought it was excellent, gets across a powerful message in the end. Love really is the key motherfuckers. It is easy to forget. Alec Baldwin as well, that man has presence. Bonus points for not having any aul lads starting on me.

Just saw Run All Night.
Bryan Mills has to stop Ed Harris' gang of henchmen from killing his innocent son, etc etc etc.
This is actually great craic, there's a class chase sequence, loads of cool shots, the fights feel like real fights, it's all really well put together. There are also some hilarious cameos, from the likes of Nick Nolte, and Private Piles plays the detective trying to hunt him down.

I'm seeing this in the morning.

The last two of these I have asked the ticket person for "Two tickets for Liam Neeson shooting people, please" and it has worked.

Watched that "Kingsman" film the other day, British spy caper thing.
So, this film is fairly under the radar to most people I'd imagine, but it is actually class.
It has THE BEST action sequence in any film since The Raid 2, with Colin Firth being the person doing the arse-kicking – for real – and it's fucking classsssss!
Overall you're talking a really great action film with comedy thrown in that is for the most part actually funny (eg. trainee spy asked to give best German aristocratic salute, responds with Seig Heil), you've got Samuel L Jackson playing a very amusing bad super villain, you've got Mark Strong, you've got My Name Is Michael Caine, seriously this is good shit and totally worth seeing in the cinema if you get the chance!
What is really great about the film is that in a lot of ways it is totally formulaic, but it is totally aware of this and therefore puts a lot of effort into making the formula work using great action scenes and that kind of thing, and yeah it totally does work, is for the most part very amusing, has a pretty good script, and is generally just a fucking great load of fun!

Bad women characters though, if anyone is looking out for that. Fuck it, it's an action film like. Good female henchwoman anyway.

there's some notorious ill-judged joke in the last minute that's leading people to give out about it a lot....was it as bad as they say?

Yeah there is a fairly purile anal sex joke at the end or something which is just like "aw fuck sake, why did you have to bother?" kind of thing. Unless like you are talking about something after the credits, I didn't stick around.

Divergent. When I saw it was over 2 hours I was like "fuck, here we go again", but it moves along quite well. It's 1984 meets Shindler's List for kids. I suppose we have to accept that this is how the holocaust will passed on now that it is getting beyond living memory. Not the worst. Herself says the the main dude was well dishy.
