Before I was hoping that he'd not die, I'm not sure exactly why, I felt that it would militarize the crazies or somehow make things worse. I was thinking that he'd just ramble through being his normal lazy self, and nothing much would happen.

He does seem to be at least handing things off to people who are breaking things at a rate that surprises me.

I also thought he was somehow immune to death, a bit like Kissinger. Kissinger's still dead, I just checked. For some reason, yeah, it occurred to me that maybe he could croak, and then what. I suspect it would lessen the rate of deterioration, but then I'm caring less about all of this too.

They're shit. We get it. No one's going to do anything about it. Let's just forget about it.

Thump being dead would probably not change the direction of travel. In some ways without his tendency to impulsiveness it would possibly move in a more direct fashion.

It would however make the regime less popular with the base. Trump=MAGA, without the cult of personality it would be harder to sell some of the shit they are doing

The author of that piece may be correct in thinking that electoral politics aren't the right vehicle to build a sustainable left wing movement in America, but having a go at Sanders for not having single-handedly developed a viable network of alternative institutions seems a bit unfair..
