I thought “Stormwatch” had potential to a real time thriller of a thread, but it ended up quite disappointing. It might be lucky to get a third page.

Of course it had to be @pete who brought back a 20 year-old “building a new pc” thread. a niche crowd, but in it for life. Will be interesting to see if it stays in the front page for more than a day.

The occasional resurrection of the “horn” thread is, I expect, a testimony to the sagging libidos of Thumped’s aging constituency, as conversely supported by the steady popularity of the “Wordle” thread.

The world / crossword demographic is providing routine for sure. The storm didn't deliver enough 'holy fuck' images to keep that one going, but we can be sure of more named storms over the next few months
This is true. It'll reappear as needed and one day will be THE thread of note.

A bit of the old cross-pollination spotted as @nuke terrorist dug up the “Aphex Twin question” thread following the “bands I don’t get” discussion on the same.

FACT - those born the last time that thread was seen will be sitting the Leaving Cert next year.
It was suggested by Pete (as there was already 4 threads on yer man). Anyway I was talking to the kids in 5th year and they are thinking of dropping out.

bumps thread to see what @Frank Discussions writes in the Threadwatch thread about this thread

Something you don’t as see much of in 2024, a shout-out in one thread (in this instance “Thread Title” - very clever) in order to illicit a response in another.

Unfortunately this was not spotted quick enough to get a natural one-two of “Thread Title” and “Threadwatch” in the new posts list, but I’ll gerrymander that now for the sheer novelty of it.

The only Dockstader I have is the Aerial set. Great stuff!
Quatermass is amazing. Not to far off what Radiophonic Workshop was doing but a bit further out.
Nothing to do with the the UK sci-fi series which Dockstader never heard of at the time.
In particular 'Second Song' the last 13 minute track on this CD is astonishing.

Must go back and listen to Aerial again don't have that on record.

Finally someone reacted to me going on about Tod D. I searched T.D. on the thumped search engine and Brian Conniffe had mentioned T.D. a lot years ago and his death got a mention but apart from that there was little record of him here.

I’ll check out Quatermass, I know it’s one of his big ones but it was hard to get my hands on it when I was buying most of this sort of stuff.

And Brian knows his stuff, we never overlapped on Thumped but know him in real life for years now. He’s doing the Coil exhibition with me and another friend.

I never met BC but the music I heard by him was really good. Not surprised he involved with Coil exhibition. He would come up with great listening suggestions on old thumped threads. Was sorry when he disappeared!
