well they probably shouldn't really be left living feral

There are voluntary groups who will catch these guys, spay/neuter them and release them back into the wild. You see the problem is that two cats can eventually produce something mad like 22,000 offspring so really they should either be captured now while young and 'domesticted' or else given the snip to stop them from producing other little un's who may not end up getting fed and watered by nice factory lads!
