Jason was on Czech tv (he tweeted the video) the other day talking about how more people were starting to support Putin, in reaction to the sanctions from the west. You'd think that martial law would fuck them all off entirely.

Is there any greater example of this bankrupt regime's barefaced lying than this cruiser getting hit by a Neptune missile and them claiming it was a fire?
I mean Jesus.

Trick question, there are endless examples of this Russian regime's lying.
This is just the latest

“Russian warship, go fuck yourself” indeed

Surely if they said their ship was hit by a missile fired by the evil nazi Ukrainians, helped by the cowardly West, that would be a better narrative than "uh, we set our best boat on fire by doing a stupid."

yeah - if Putin died in a helicopter crash it would be funnier that his own technology failed him.

A catastrophic stupid would seem to be plausible given how everything else has gone for them.

Our majestic warship gloriously self destructed to prevent those subhuman Ukrainians from attacking it

I was reading a thing yesterday saying that one of the reasons that russia chose to invade *now* — rather than, say, five years from now — was because of the steadily-increasing quality of ukrainian rocket forces. so the strike on the ship would seem to confirm their assessment. from the russian perspective, if anything, they waited too long to start the war.

then that got me thinking that this whole invasion was probably planned for mid-2020 or so, and all got pushed back by the pandemic. and during that time, the ukrainians got better rockets and tanks and other military kill-toys. so if the war eventually turns against russia and ends in national humiliation, that might end up being the first big-deal *second-order* effect of the pandemic.

Would be curious as to how much covid is affecting operations for them still. Having loads of men barracked together probably makes great breeding ground for it.
