The Nostalgia Circuit (2 Viewers)

I mentioned this on another thread a while back but Slowdive are really popular now -
their 2023 LP got #6 in UK charts.
From 1991 onwards their was a UK music press backlash against shoegaze bands and all I can remember is Slowdive getting a lot of abuse and mockery in 1992/93.
I knew shoegaze has long been reassessed but only realised Slowdive were around again they kept coming up on Instagram.

Last year first song anyone ever got me to sing in a pub was:
"I'M 18, I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT
I'M 48, I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT
I GOTTA GET OUTTA THIS PLACE
I'LL GO RUNNING IN OUTER SPACE
OH YEAH!"
People were splitting their sides laughing 🤣 how bad it was which was my idea.
I got overconfident afterwards and tried to sing an Irish song or something like that and bollocksed it up.

I was in a band when I was in school and we used to play What's Going On at practice because the drummer could play it on the guitar and we were humoring him (he had a PA and we could practice in his sitting room).
when I was about 13 we went on a (religious) retreat where we were treated to a priest singing that song at one point.
I had completely forgotten about that until I saw the above post

Like Monster Squad - another great film from the same time - it was probably considered a tiny bit too dark at points for 80's kids.
The acting by Frank Langella as Skeletor is particularly ace while Lundgren seems to be deliberately trying to be as one dimensional as possible?

I remember absolutely loving this as a kid. Even though I never watched the cartoon
