Re: Best Record Ever?

I know the answer to this question,it is

Reagan Youth-youth anthems for the new order
or,because strictly speaking that's only a mini lp
Melvins-Lysol

Re: Best Record Ever?

Seeing as I can't even go on holidays without brining half my cd collection, I'll have to give a list.

In no particular order...

Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Autechre - Confield
Sonic Youth - Pretty much everything bar half of NYC G&F
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Sigur Ros - ()
Casiotone For The Painfully Alone - Twinkle Echo
Snow Patrol - Songs For Polar Bears
Grandaddy - Broken Down Comforter Collection
Wolf Eyes - Dead Hills
Sparklehorse - Vivadixie....
Fantomas - Every note they've recorded!!!
Album Leaf - In A Safe Place
Guns 'n' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Domotic - Bye Bye
Aphex Twin - Richard D James
GYBE! - F-sharp A-sharp Infinity

There's loads more but I'm sure that's enough

Re: Best Record Ever?

This is impossible to answer.
Dudley seems to have picked a "life altering record" in which case for me it is AC/DC If you want blood. I don't think it's the best album ever made.
But if you work it out this way; favourite band, favourite album by them then it is Marillion Afraid Of Sunlight. I also don't think that is the best album ever made.
Perfect album route, every single song amazing. That's harder still. In fact I can't think of one right now.

oh I just have: Powerage, the aussie version. The one with Cold Hearted Man on it.

Re: Best Record Ever?

Fuck yis.

I've picked three, its the magic number don't ya know?

1. Tool - Aenima
2. Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
3. Kyuss - ...And The Circus Left Town

Re: Best Record Ever?

Today I reckon it's:
Killing Joke - Killing Joke

Normally it'd probably be:
Husker Du - Zen Arcade

Re: Best Record Ever?

If only we could turn back time and say. Not 'a bunch of stuff I like' or 'a few of my favourite things'

but..
The best record (singular) ever (full stop)

and maybe why.

So I'll add my why.

'The marble index' by Nico is what the VU could have been if John Cale had been the leader. It's the one record that hasn't stopped giving me the goods for almost 20 years. It also contains see-saw harmonium dirges fused with shocking noise. If that isn't a recipe for success.....

'From the lacerated sky..'

Mmmm! a very solid record. Still impresses to this day.

It'd be funny if this album cover just had a portrait of Frasier Crane (real name: Kelsey Grammer), with a tear coming from his drunken eye.

Funnier if it was coming out of his Japs eye.

My favourite album always changes but the two that are always there or there abouts are London Calling by The Clash or The Holy Bible by the Manics.

Lost cities... by M83 is getting a heavy rotation these days as is the for too long forotten Bizarro by The Wedding present.
