The best (cheapest) broadband (1 Viewer)

Don't think so. I rang 'em a few months ago and it wasn't available where we live (which is Rialto and there's plenty of poor people around here ... at least that's what I think they are)
i stand corrected! jaysus, would defo have thought they covered rialto.....i thought it was only the outskirts on the north and southside that coverage was iffy.....

Anyone have any opinions on SMART telecom?

NTL and Irish broadband seem like wankers, going by this thread

i'm with smart, think they're great
can be pretty difficult to actually get them in, eircom have made the transfer process as awkward as possible, but very worth it once you do

they're 35 euro a month, and includes your phone line rental, plus reduced calls, and free calls to other smart subscribers. connection is 3mb down, with no cap limit

for the last 2 months though, they jumped all subscribers to a 6mb download speed as a xmas pressie, can't see eircom or others doing a similar stunt

should add, the difference between our phone/internet bills now we've gone with smart is staggering, we rarely pay more than 40 a month.

before smart we must have been at least double that price....

They sound great! I was worried that people might be conned into signing up with them because of that magic guy "Look into my eyes, only my eyes, SMART is the best broadband, aaaand you're awake"

Our eircom bills got far too big and we were eventually got cut off.

It looks like SMART is the clear winner here

They do sound good alright, but I can't stand the thoughts of giving those scobes in Eircom €200 to reconnect me!

Me too! Just reading over the Smart site- it looks like you need a landline...

shit

I just finished paying off our bill- (a further 200 quid last week after a gentle reminder in the form of a solicitors letter)- I really don't want to give them any more of my money.

I'm preared to live without the phone, I don't have any friends to call anyway. I just need my broadband porn and sneak previews of TV shows

edit:

Just to clarify- are Eircom the only crowd who can install/hook up your landline??

to the best of my knowledge eircom still own the local loop, meaning they have to install all lines into a house. after that, the line can be managed by another comapny, ie, smart. smart will bill you for the use of the line, even though it's ultimately owned by eircom. for any technical faults with the line, eircom technicians look after it. thats the way it works for leased lines in my place of employment anyways....

Smart seems good dudley. I'm with UTV and bill hover around the €55 - €60 per month even though I rarely use the phone. Apart from that I've no problems with them at all. In fact they're deadly.
