Well there's a difference between not getting and not liking. I don't get Tame Impala, I don't like Counting Crows. I would have thought 'getting' Abba is fairly easy.

On paper they do everything right. I see the appeal of catchy pop songs, harmonies and all that but mostly it just sounds like gick to me. I do like the odd song.

I'm guessing its Irish festivals, where people who don't listen to music the rest of the year can lep around to some diddley-aye shite in some semi-ironic fashion. I doubt there's any actual 'fans' there.

But yes, I'm with you, I definitely don;t get Sharon Shannon. It's trad supermarket music.

If I had to declare fanboy status on any band, it'd be the Sea & Cake. Granted they're not a band you stick on for some 'hits', it's perfect background/lazy Sunday morning music.
