So now we finally know where the Kim Gordon & Thurston Moore (and Hugo Largo) interviews up above I found on that VHS tape I got from @niallmc originated.

Yep, well remembered. Some Old Nerd info: Dave Donohue was the guy who made the programmes. He went on to front The Floors (Lee Ranaldo and Lydia Lunch are on one of their albums, and John Parrish on another) and write some very successful children's books, among loads of other enterprises. Allegedly used to go out with Bjork, and is mentioned in John Cale's autobiography. Interesting fellow.

for sure, but 'put blood...' is really a charles atlas film. donohue was mentioned by fanning in the intro but i think he was a producer.

i was already a hugo largo fan before i saw it so that was the main attraction, given the paucity of footage at the time, or ever, plus it started my interest in arto lindsay.

didn't know about the kids books.

Do I remember right that there was a South Bank Show about Sonic Youth? or at least that they heavily featured in. I think I had that recorded on vhs. Probably on youtube now.

First time I saw Sonic Youth('90,in the Art College Belfast, with Teenage Fanclub opening) I ended up getting three staples in my head after something or someone floored me. Missed the last couple of songs as a result.

Loadsa great old SY shows up on Bandcamp these days- most have been previously available from bootlegs/fan club issues etc but still worth a listen.
Sonic Youth
