songs with deadly basslines (1 Viewer)

Simple but effective:

Talking Heads - Pyscho Killer, Once in a Lifetime
LCD Soundsystem - Loosing my Edge
!!! - Me and Guilliani

paul mccartney was pretty handy on the bass, wasnt he - has he been mentioed?

Yup, I mentioned Lucy in the Sky, possibly the first song that made me aware of the bass guitar as an instrument when I was a nipper.

Speaking of first bass lines one was aware of, it'd be this for me.

The great James Jamerson on Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made to Love Her"
The bassline just never stops.

YouTube - Stevie Wonder - I Was Made To Love Her

You beat me to this. James Jamerson is amazing.
Every 4 bar bass sequence on that song is different. And plucked with just one finger too. He played on just about every other decent Motown Record until he died.

The best 2 note bassline you've heard.
The chorus is the verse pattern reversed.

...and finally Deon Estus's Jamerson inspired slab of gorgonzola on this one always invokes a roflcopter, especially the outro and fade out

i've always had a soft spot for the David Holmes remix of "If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next" by the Manic Street Preachers and the way he introduces the bassline to really bring you home with your eyes closed and a muscle in your neck tweaked. It's far, far, far better than the original and one of the most moving pieces of bass juxtaposed with something you thought you knew but never thought if could be THIS good.
