in athenry right up untill the mid nineties our water supply was a tank out the back and a few buckets. we had it 'delivered' door to door by local farmers, then you'd clean it overnight with tablets and often boil it. running water then cost about 2000 to get installed. bear in mind there were guys next door with 60 cattle to keep watered.
