This being Ireland - my wife's aunt was SOC's aunt's best friend. My wife grew up hearing stories about what went on in that house. You wouldn't have given her much chance of growing up to be a well balanced person.

Well-meaning but absolutely bonkers. A complete narcissist who refused to get proper help.

Gave those kids an awful life for a lot of the time. Poor young fella killed himself like.

Fair play for her and the social justice and all that. But everyone's first responsibility is to their kids.

This is what people say when they are refusing to own their own shit

Obviously an unpopular opinion. But she had her millions and she had all the opportunity in the world and she still let those kids down.

RIP

Hmmmmm, well, I think we all know people who have those sorts of issues. It can be difficult for all concerned.

She did actually try to get proper help though, to correct you. She said she had been misdiagnosed. I don't know. She obviously had a very unusual life in most respects.

Yeah, not interested in arguing it one way or another
And it is an awful existence for those in its orbit, you're dead right.
Especially when its a parent or anyone that's supposed to provide stability for a child.

I just get big Mommie Dearest shit from her.

Not trying to have a go at anyone who's grieving her passing.
We all come at these things from our own perspective and experience.

just learned that creedon dedicated his entire show to her music this evening. i'm sorry i missed that.
It was very good

Just the man for it. As in he wouldn't be scrambling to put a show like that together on the spot.
Like he'd know all of her reggae stuff and her covers and all that gear; wouldn't have missed a thing during her whole career.
He played a blinder, like it was nothing.

Chiquitita and Don't Cry For Me Argentina are some covers.

What's your favorite Sinéad song? I might go for this one. The backing vocals!

She's maybe a little too overcome with religious fervor towards the end there for me, but it's still great.
This is another good piano and vocal one

I don’t know if it got posted already, but 23-year-old sinead at the grammys with the public enemy logo shaved in her head in 1989 is still amazing to see

Fully expecting Twitter/X to be full of Americans expressing their hatred of Sinead O'Connor today

I think it’s cool that we as mostly men with good mental health on the internet can judge a woman whose family is affected by intergenerational trauma and serious psychiatric problems for her failings as a parent.

I was taken aback by the the complete lack of empathy on display here.
