I tried the seaweed baths for a while. No results, not worth the hassle. It came in a net bag from some health shop but I'm 100% sure you could harvest your own at the beach if you were so inclined.

Not to flog a dead horse, but is there any improvement when you're away from the cats?
Like a two - week Benidorm thing?

Is that seaweed stuff the one that's at every farmer's market in the world?

Possibly, it was recommended to me by several different acquaintances who all reported good results. It's powdered dried seaweed, which you make into a mask and then wash off after 20 minutes or add to a bath and soak. I do both, mask, wash off in the bath and soak. My skin definitely feels a lot softer.

I tried the net bag seaweed before, and didn't think it was up to much, it was also very expensive.

Hahha. No. The missus works weekends and odd shifts. We haven't had a holiday in years and years

This year will be different...maybe

Anybody know a pharmacy in Dublin city centre where you can buy those big tubs of Coal Tar & Urea Cream mix?

It's probably lethal stuff that will eventually see me die of necrotising fasciitis, but it keeps the worst excesses of psoriasis at bay.

All chemists carry this. You might have to get them to order it in though.

It can be expensive too. The usually dispense it in little over-priced containers. I was lucky enough to get it for retail price the last time.

I read something about "carcinogenic" but thought "..fuck it".

I've mentioned him here before but it's worth talking to Mr Foley in Foley's Chemist on Parnell Street the Hill Street/Summerhill end.
He specialises in treatments for disorders like Psoriasis.

Oh man, I haven't used that stuff (CUREA) since I was a child and I can still remember the smell and the way it stained everything yellow. But yes, pretty much any pharmacy should have it.

I'm still struggling to find any kind of working alternative to replace my beloved Polytar shampoo. My scalp and hair don't seem to be responding well to anything else I've tried.

In other news... that Aalgo stuff seems to be working. Haven't been using it as often as recommended but I'm seeing a definite improvement and the best and fastest I've seen with anything other than 2 weeks in the sun.

Is old-school T-Gel any good for you? I know you can't get it here any more, but I buy mine on Amazon.

Did he give you anything that worked?

So I went to see Mr. Foley out of curiousity. He asks you what your treatment history is, what your lifestyle is like, and then puts something together in a self-consciously old-school way (wrapped in paper and all).

He gave me some ointment - bit of zinc, coal tar and misc. other stuff, which will probably help in the way that Curea does. He also gave me a cough-syrup style mix of Promethazine (anti-histamine, sedative, badass name for a chemical) and Vitamin B12, to be taken for 3 weeks. That's a new approach to me, probably helps you to sleep better if nothing else.

He threw in a bit of Foley's soap for maximum upsell, and it came to €45. Not cheap.

still cheaper than a visit to a GP

Not cheap, but not horrendously expensive either, given the cost of some medications and ointments. Hope you see some results.

That's not too bad. A large tub of coal tar costs about the same from the chemist

Hope some of that works for you
