Running? (4 Viewers)

You clearly just aren't running whole marathons well enough :p

I couldn't look at a marathon. I'd be one of those guys the ambulance people have to put in a chair after an hour.

Went out to NYC and ran the Staten Island Half yesterday
If you run a NYRR event, you get preference on marathon entry for New York in 2024

I needed 1:32 in my age group and I came home in 1:29:40
Super super happy with that

To make the qualifying standard, and to break 1:30
Running sub-6:50 pace was tough but doable.

For the record
436th out of 7,820 overall
388th out of 4,548 Men
27th out of 382 Men 50-54 (aka the real race - lol)

Three weeks til Dublin....

No human is limited, most anyone can do these things with desire, effort and consistency.

That's amazing.

Also i've been watching arnie videos all weekend and can only read the final sentence in one way

I had three running goals this year

Run a BQ (Boston Qualifying) time. Did that. Still didn't qualify, but I got the time. It counts.

Run a NYC qualifying time. Did that yesterday.

Run a sub-20:00 5k. I have about 12 weeks left this year to do that.

I would very much like to run a London and a Berlin qualifying time. But those numbers are maybe outside my ability. Even with desire and consistency.

Like Arnie's self-help stuff?

Or just his urges for people to get to choppers and such?

But did you get your money's worth running it that quickly?
Hah!
My wife did, she'd torn her calf a couple of months ago, but was still going to walk it because of the fund raising. Had a goal to walk it in 8 hours, got confident to try the leg, and run a bit, ended up shaving 2 hours off her projected time. Which is amazing.
But very stressful when you're the support crew and she's passed through check points an hour ahead of schedule etc.
Such a great day though, hope the fella doing it in just a bikini bottom did well. Was that you, @Deadmanposting ?

nice one your wife.

When i ran it, a long time ago, I ended up beside a very hungover looking dude in a hotdog costume for a while. Never seen so many people so happy to see a hotdog. "Look at hotdog. Go on hotdog!" Still rings in my ears.

Honestly the people that run in 4 hours plus have my utmost respect.
That is a very long time to be on your feet and moving along those roads

Fair play to the missus. She should be super proud of that medal.

No bikini bottoms for me. I went with my trusty and superfast jorts
