Various - The World Of Radio Themes LP
Various - The World Of Phase 4 Thrillers LP
Various - The World Of TV Themes LP
Various - Classic Commercials LP
Quartet of well known but so no well worn (surprisingly) Decca comps.

Various - Stereo '68 LP
Mike Sammes Singers - Colour It Folksy LP
Familiar faces. Stereo '68 isn't as good as the one that followed. Sammes is fun.

Planxty - The Collection LP
Solid 1976 compilation of tracks from the first three LPs plus The Cliffs Of Dooneen.

Bothy Band - The Bothy Band LP
Stunning 1975 debut. Never bettered.

Records27May022.jpg

Various - World Of British Comedy LP
Selection of varying sketches. Milligan tops. Nice for samples.

Alan Bennett, Peter Cook, Jonathan Miller and Dudley Moore - Beyond The Fringe LP
Nice clean copy. Entertaining performance.

Oh yes!
Especially if your a Feldman fan which I've always being.
Missed the beginning though.
Remember as a kid watching his stuff and totally loving it even back then.

It was well received at the time, good summing up of the previous three albums and left people wanting more.

Not available on CD.

Seems to have largely superseded by
The 1994 double CD anthology Sweet Little Mysteries

I know it has a live version of I'd Rather Be The Devil which is probably (not sure) the same as the one on the 2000 Solid Air remaster. If that's the case it has no exclusive tracks anymore and is probably the reason why Island didn't put out a CD version.

Eil have a NM orange label Island copy for £18 and they tend to overprice a little.

I'll have a look at "the book" [Rare Record Price Guide] when I get home but mine is 2000 edition so price may not be relevant now.

Cheers

most postponed record ever.

I sent Sanctuary a mail telling them the word on the net was that the comp was ficticious and nobody believed it would be released.

They got very indignant and it came out a couple of weeks later.

minus the Donovan track.

its predecessor Gather In The Mushrooms rocks too.

Tom Jones - The Body And Soul of Tom Jones LP
Brilliant version of 'Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone'. 1973.

Tom Jones - 13 Smash Hits LP
Solid grooves. Spare copy as I already have the US edition, the more exotically monikered 'Fever Zone' which has a similarly strained photo of Tom in full vocal flight. You can't really go wrong with Tom Jones in the swinging London era, full of pumped up soul vocals and macho poses. Some of the LPs are one or two-trackers but usually cheap enough.

The Beatles - Hey Jude LP
Only place to get Rain on LP.

Various - The Immediate Singles Collection 2xLP
Stellar selection - Rod, Nico, Small Faces, The Nice, John Mayall.

Records27May021.jpg

Magic Roundabout - Dougal And The Blue Cat LP
Somewhat lackluster, terrible songs but nice exotic grooves. Used sparingly.

John Barry - The Persuaders LP
The Persuaders and a selection of other themes including Midnight Cowboy and various Bonds. Ever reliable.

Various - Super Soul LP
1975 Atlantic comp. Crammed with soul. Familiar tunes and faces - Otis, Wilson, Aretha, Spinners etc.

Various - Solid Gold Soul LP
Mono 1966 Atlantic again. Solomon Burke, Don Covay, Joe Tex, Ben E King, Otis and Wilson. Two songs per artist. Killer.

Alan Stivell - Chemins De Terre LP
Alan Stivell - Reflections LP
Alan Stivell - Renaissance Of The Celtic Harp LP
Three early LPs and from what I've heard before, seem to be the strongest of his career.
Hard to pick individual highlights but Metig on the Chemins... record is great.

Fairport Convention - Liege And Lief LP
Pink rim. Looks NM but plays EX-.

Various - The World Of Folk LP
So-so. Peggy Seeger's Swapping Song is the highlight so far.

The Ranchers - Ranchers Regale LP
1974 folk dance, pretty decent with good variety. Scottish Melody is particularly fine.

Incredible String Band - Relics LP
Elektra comp drawn from the first three LPs. Familiar but I'm contented.

Andy Irvine and Paul Brady - s/t LP
Possibly the greatest Irish folk album ever. Owned it on CD for years, EX vinyl copy for £3. Made during the interlude between Planxty mk 1 and mk 2. I personally think it's better than any of Planxty's six albums.

Ian Campbell Folk Group - Presenting LP
Contour copy of a traditional yet compelling folk album.

Donovan - Ministrel Boy 10"
1983 pressing of 1965 material. Original Catch The Wind and Colours. I prefer the updated versions though.

Teresa Brewer - Music! Music! Music! (Demo) 7"
Teresa Brewer - Music! Music! Music! 7"
A track that's been sporadically in my head since the summer of 1993. Finally got the finger out and tracked down not one but two copies of the 45. A catchy pre rock'n'roll number from around 1950 - 'put a nickel in the nickelodeon'. The demo sounds far better, the London Records 45 comes with added surface noise which detracts.

Cannoball Adderley - The Jive Samba 7"
Dates from 1963, the a-side is nothing special, it's all about the flip, Lillie which is nicely played moody jazz.

Juliette Greco - Nos Cheres Maisons 7"
Languid EP, fairly beat-free. La Fourmi is great but stops after 63 seconds.

Roger Webb - Theme From Hammer House Of Horror 7"
Been after this for a long while. Hammer House Of Horror and Thriller were my introduction to anthology series in the early 1980s. Backed with the theme for the Thames series, Cover.

Dudley Simpson - Blake's 7 7"
RTE 2 started up in November 1978. Blake's 7 was one of the earliest things transmitted. I hadn't a clue what was going on but I've never forgotten the theme. Maybe I should now check out the series again.
