I dunno a lot about QON but I defo wouldn't write them off just 'cos they're attractive! They're not young either, it's not like they just fell into the job. You don't get places just by being pretty. If you have nothing to back it up, then you're fucked.

Very True, but I tend to roll my eyes whenever they get mentioned and go off and listen to the Grates or whatever

ha ha was waiting for that!

think this all this DJ talk is what's known as a "thread wind down" after the white heat of earlier. no harm either I guess.

yeah but that's because all the big guns are just out in the garden having a smoke/pacing session and collecting together their thoughts for round two...

yeah ...i always need a thirty minute "refractionary" period to get going again after a big wank myself

Best night I had DJing was at a conference party ages and ages ago, which was funny because I was concerned that I didn't have the right kind of music collection for a bunch of academics. I bought a few chart comps, then brought some more mainstream stuff I already had, and then a huge stack of stuff I really love. As it turned out, requests were for stuff I'd have wanted to play for myself, and there was a great feeling of PARTY TIME watching 45 year olds who'd been long out of the music scene bopping around to old punk tunes and all of us singing along like big nerds.

regarding the topic of women in electronic music:
delia derbyshire, elaine radigue and cosey fanni tutti were pioneers. the latters reclaiming of "pornography" as "artwork" was unique and may well be of interest to those interested in womens studies and/or performance art.
there is also a good diversity of female electronic music projects, from mira calyx through maja ratkje to hecate.
some compilations of contemporary female electronic musicians would be: women take back the noise 3CD set (ubuibi), girl monster 3CD set (chicks on speed records) and extreme music from women (susanlawly).

Sorry Jane if I don't reply to you immediately, but I am employed and therefore I can't spend all day on the internet arguing with people.

Funny though, you can.

There is no gender inequality in Ireland that women should be fighting against because gender inequality doesn't exist in my opinion.

As I stated before, I am not the only person who holds that view and I have cited a study done ny Accountancy Ireland earlier this year that reinforces my point of view.

I do not believe women are, or ever have been, victims of sexism in Irish music. I invite anyone to give me a example of this happening today.

I am not a troll because I simply choose not to validate you hopelessly erroneous views.

How about instead of being feminist, you become humanist? How about admitting that women are not especially victimized in Ireland. How about considering that many people, of both sexes, are raped and beaten everyday and that no sex over another is more victimized?

Cosi Fanni Tutti of Throbbing Gristle, only claimed it was art after the fact when it was convenient to do so and under the advice of Genesis P. Orridge.

Read: Wreckers of Civilisation by Simon Ford.

OMG, are you this guy? http://www.geocities.com/kstremskyforpresidentusa/ My favourite presidential candidate ever?

Thanks for recommending humanism to me, but I think I'll stick to taking the advice of logical human beings who make sense.

You still didn't answer Pantone's question about the burning building, followed by the one with my amendments, and then followed by my one about the sinking ship.
