What's the dealio? Can you buy a PS3 on the mega cheap in the states and use it in bogland?

worked for me. my ps3 cost me about €470 in LA last december, would be cheaper now. Games are region free, but way cheaper to import from videogamesplus.ca or wherever.

only things to remember are no R2 PS/PS2 game compatibility & it's R1 for DVD / BluRay - most of my DVDs are R1 anyway, so no problem there. My one purchased BluRay is R1 too, but the free Casino Royale i got when i registered it here must be region free because it plays fine.

online is grand, but obviously not as integrated as Live.

I have to say I think I prefer playing games for the sake of playing them, rather than chasing arbitrary achievements

Nearly all the good games coming out on ps3 over the next 12 months are also coming out on 360. Owning both now is like having two microwave ovens. That said i've been tempted to import one but having a 360 it makes sense to wait 18 months.
